Chicken Shack
The Complete Blue
Horizon Sessions
Chicken Shack
were one of the seminal 1960’s blues band remembered mostly for featuring
Christine Perfect on keyboards and Stan Webb’s explosive guitar playing. Later Perfect married John Mcvie of Fleetwood Mac and later joining the band
as full time keyboard player and vocalist.
This 3 disc collection marks the musical
journey that Chicken Shack betook from 1968 until 1970, from being without
doubt the most exciting British Blues band of their time – some feat
considering Cream, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Jeff Beck and Peter Green’s
Fleetwood Mac were all on the same gig circuit!
In 1969 the band achieved their highest chart
place with a cover of ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ – a track Etta James had
accomplished huge US success the previous year. In total Chicken Shack at
their most successful time recorded 4 albums, ‘Forty Blue Fingers’, ‘100 Ton
Chicken’ ‘O.K Ken’ and ‘Accept’.
Founder Mike Vernon has now meticulously
restored and re-mastered classic cuts providing a truly comprehensive and
definitive collection of recordings during their time at the Blue Horizon
label.
This 3CD set
includes previously unreleased material,
detailed liner notes written by Mike Vernon and never before seen photos.
