In 1968, a collection of inspiring Blues artists gathered in
Overton Park, Tennessee for the third annual Memphis Country Blues Festival. Now remastered, the recordings feature some remarkable performances by a
collection of artists including Bukka White, Furry Lewis and Joe Callicott
amongst others. One of the more unique recordings captured here is that of
Nathan Beauregard. Born blind in Mississippi in 1869, the artist was
discovered by Bill Barth, the organiser of the festival, who gave him the
opportunity to perform to one of the largest audiences of his career, at the
tender age of 99!!! This album captures some amazing performances which
take the listener back what was no doubt an electrifying live blues event. The CD is also accompanied by another set of informative liner notes,
written by founder member of the label, Mike Vernon, and includes some
fascinating photographs from the festival. These recordings have now been remastered.
Disc Two features the complete Blue Horizon sessions of
Bukka White, including those tracks taken from his album "Memphis Hot
Shots". All have been remastered and include a complete version of "Old Man
Tom".
