Bestowed with his name after a career as a Golden Gloves-winning boxer, Champion Jack Dupree later went on to become a legend in the music world for his talents as a blues and boogie-woogie piano player. Dupree established himself in Chicago as part of the blues scene, later moving to Europe, and then to England where he connected with the Blue Horizon label in the late 1960’s. Dupree released two albums for Blue Horizon: ‘When You Feel The Feeling You Was Feeling,’ recorded in London in 1968, and ‘Scoobydoobydoo’ released in 1969, along with a host of singles. Dupree also recorded for a number of other classic labels, including Atlantic, Decca, Folkways, Storyville, and King Records. The New-Orleans-blues piano legend died in 1992, aged 81.
