Mike Vernon
Esteemed producer & label founder
There are not many record producers whose credits include recording some of the all-time great artists like Eric Clapton (with the Bluesbreakers), David Bowie, John Mayall, Ten Years After, Peter Green, and of course Fleetwood Mac, but Mike Vernon is one. Starting out working for Decca Records in the mid-1960’s, Vernon was at the epicenter of the blues movement in Britain, later going on to co-found the Blue Horizon label. While helming Blue Horizon, Vernon would handle production on the bulk of the label’s classic albums, drawn both from the London scene, along with a selection of artists from the USA, including Otis Spann, and Champion Jack Dupree. Vernon would also produce Fleetwood Mac’s #1 hit “Albatross.” Mike Vernon would also release his own solo album, ‘Bring It Back Home’ for the label in 1971, featuring appearances by Paul Kossoff from Free, and Rory Gallagher. Vernon still works in music to this day, most recently releasing the album ‘Beyond the Blues Horizon’ in 2018.
