Otis Spann
American blues
Coming from Muddy Waters’ band, Otis Spann was one of the pre-eminent members of the 1950’s Chicago blues scene, and considered over the years as the leading post-war blues pianist. After recording for everyone from Storyville and Prestige, to Bluesway and Decca, Spann gathered in Chicago’s Chess studios in 1969 with members of Fleetwood Mac as his backing band recording what was later released as the album, ‘The Biggest Thing Since Colossus’ on Blue Horizon. The album featured impressive guitar work from Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green, especially on the track “Someday Soon Baby.”
